VANDERLEI READY TO GO

Vanderlei Silva (center)
PRIDE champion
Vanderlei Silva gave the following comments to Brazilian magazine
'Tatame' during the final days of his training for his upcoming fight against
Ikuhisa Minowa in the
PRIDE Bushido 2 show opn
February 15th:
Vanderlei on training all the way until almost a few days before the fight: "I respect all my opponents in the same manner. Fighting is my job, so I have to be in my best condition when I step into the ring."
Vanderlei when asked about Minowa's loss to Quinton Jackson: "I haven't had the opportunity to see Minowa and Quinton, but I know Minowa is really technical on the ground. I trained a lot on my cardio, and also my ground skills. The new comers to Chute Boxe, Macaco and Daniel Acacio, have improved our ground training a lot."
Vanderlei on Vitor Belfort winning the UFC light heavyweight belt: "Some people are saying that he did not win. This is not fair, I think he won. If it was fate or not, it doesn't matter. He scored with a punch and won, and he has the belt. I see his fight against Couture being just like my fight against him...there was no fight. Someone made a mistake, and the other one capitalized on it."
Vanderlei Silva on a possible rematch with Vitor Belfort: "PRIDE choses my opponents, and I will fight against anyone, anytime. Personally, I think a rematch between Belfort and me would be good for the sport."

PRISCILLA BELFORT UPDATE

As of today,
Vitor Belfort's sister, whose name is
Priscila Vieira Belfort, is still missing since the morning of
Friday,
January 9th.
Brazilian journalist
Eduardo Alonso gives us the following update:
"At this point it's very unlikely that she ran away, and she had no reason for it. Also, it has been a month already and if she had ran away someone would already have seen her somewhere, with the massive media appeal asking for help. I mean, her picture is on national TV everyday, in all sorts of shows and her family asks for help all the time.
At this point there's some new clues that are leading to believe she was taken by mistake by some kidnappers, who were willing to take someone else and ask for money, and the likes. The thing is that she didn't go to work at her regular schedule in the day she disapeared, instead she went to work in a different time.
Since she was working at a goverment building, it could be that the kidnappers were looking for someone else and took her by accident. Now, what happened when they found out the mistake is the big question mark, as this can lead to either a disaster or a better outcome."
-Eduardo AlonsoAny information on the whereabouts of
Priscila Vieira Belfort can be reported to the following numbers:

RODRIGO GRACIE SPEAKS

Rodrigo Gracie
The following interview was conducted by
Kid Peligro:
Kid Peligro: You are back in Bushido, this time against 'Mach' Sakurai, what do you think of him?
Rodrigo Gracie: I think he is a very good fighter, with a lot of experience. He is good on the ground, after all he was the runner up in ADCC and has very good strikes as well. IT si going to be a very tough fight!
Kid Peligro: Sakurai has fought many times in Shooto and even U.F.C. What is his most dangerous characteristic?
Rodrigo Gracie: He is very good standing. Very explosive and likes to trade blows. He is a very complete fighter as I said, but I am coming prepared to challenge him. It is going to be fun!
Kid Peligro: Are you changing your training for this fight?
Rodrigo Gracie: I train differently for each opponent. Renzo and I already have a special strategy for him. I have been training at Renzo's Academy in Manhattan with his help and Royce, Ryan ,Igor, Rolls Jr, Daniel, Fabio Leopoldo, Shawn Williams, Joe D'Arce, Jay Hieron and doing kickboxing with Keith Trimble at Bellmore Kickboxing.. I am going to be ready to rock and roll! '

Jens Pulver sustained a cut which needed to be superglued shut just days before his scheduled kickboxing exhibition against
Eddie Yagin, which took place yesterday. Pulver lost yesterday's match due to a cut stoppage on the same cut.
As luck would have it, it was the same Eddie Yagin who Pulver was sparring with when he sustained the cut while training at
Grappling Unlimited.
Pulver has an upcoming
SHOOTO fight against
Naoya Uematsu on
March 22nd, and hopes to have the cut fully healed by then.

EVIDENCE OF REFEREE LANDLESS ERROR

The picture above was supplied by the
American Top Team, who argue that referee
Larry Landless wrongfully interfered in the fight between ATT fighter
Hermes Franca (pictured, far left) and
Josh Thompson (pictured, on ground) which just took place in
UFC 46 on
January 31st.
The picture shows
Larry Landless (pictured, right) jumping in and attempting to stop Franca from finishing off Thompson.
To those who may not have seen the fight, what happened next was perplexing as Landless then decided to do nothing and let the fight continue.
Franca eased up his attack, thinking that Landless was stopping the fight.
Those few moments allowed Thompson to pull guard and regain his senses. Thompson would then go on to win a
controversial majority decision, in which most experts had Franca winning two out of three rounds.
