RANDLEMAN MAY TRAIN AT CHUTE BOX FOR PRIDE GP

Randleman (top) after beating Cro Cop.

Brazilian magazine Tatame reports that Kevin Randleman may train with the Chute Boxe team in Curitiba, Brazil, in preparation for the second round of the PRIDE Heavyweight GP on June 20th.

Chute Boxe manager and trainer Rudimar Fedrigo says, "We actually talked before his fight, and Randleman told me that he would like to come to Brazil and train with our team. When I arrived in Curitiba, Sergio Cunha (who is the head trainer of Chute Boxe Japan) called me and told me about an interview Randleman did in Japan. He commented in the interview that his wish was to train at Chute Boxe in preparation for the second round of the GP."

In addition to this, Rudimar had already given Randleman some pre-fight advice before Randleman's fight against Mirko 'CroCop' Filipovic.

"I gave him some tips about Mirko's game, such as making the distance between them shorter and other things. When he stepped inside the ring, Randleman did everything right," commented Rudimar.

MFC LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTOR

Internet fighter Quincy Rice.

The Judo-based Metro Fight Club, known by most MMA fans for producing B-level fighters that make fine jobbers for small promotions, is now looking for an MMA instructor.

According to the club owner, the job comes with no salary. However, you can use the facilities for free and get a commission from any new members you bring in.

The club was formerly run by Quincy Rice, who is affectionately referred to as an 'internet fighter' and the 'Grappling Circuit Jobber' by many in the MMA and grappling community. Rice has now bailed out on the team who many refer to as the 'Bad News Bears' of MMA.

POSTAL CONNECTIONS: BUENTELLO MAY REPLACE 'CABBAGE' FOR ROTR 5

THE JAKE R. REPORT: DANA THREATENS 'CABBAGE', FIGHT MAY BE OFF

By Jake R

Cabbage and Marsh.

Sources close to both the ROTR and Zuffa organizations are now informing me that both ROTR and Wes 'Cabbage' Correira are having second thoughts about continuing with the fight against John Marsh.

As I first reported in an exclusive, Zuffa was the only stumbling block to the Marsh and Cabbage matchup, but ROTR and Cabbage were planning on ignoring their requests as ROTR is an unsanctioned event.

However, it now appears as if ROTR and Cabbage are rethinking their position. Cabbage is still under medical suspension by the NSAC, and Zuffa has made it clear that there will be consequences if Cabbage does not abide by the suspension.

UFC president Dana White's petty behavior is well known throughout the fight community. As I have reported in all three instances with exclusives, Dana has thrown an emotional temper tantrum backstage after Chuck Liddell lost against Quinton Jackson, banned fighters such as Din Thomas and Rich Franklin from competing in the UFC again after they competed in other events, and forced Murilo Busamante's leave after Busta did not immediately take Dana's first business offer.

Dana's track record of mixing his personal emotions with business is well known. For that reason, Cabbage is now being told by Zuffa that he may not ever fight for the UFC again if he goes through with the Marsh fight.

Though it is not a 100% done deal that Cabbage will not compete, ROTR understands the situation and has been scrambling to find a potential last minute replacement for Cabbage in case he decides not to risk his UFC career with a ROTR fight.

As usual, stick to Fightsport.com and the Jake R Report to find out what you won't read anywhere else.

'NINJA' SPEAKS

Murilo "Ninja" Rua

Brazilian magazine 'Tatame' recently interviewed Murilo 'Ninja' Rua after his loss to Sergei Karitonov in the PRIDE Heavyweight GP. Here's what Ninja had to say (interview by Eduardo Ferreira):

Tatame: Do you think you chose the wrong strategy by going for a standup war at the beginning of the fight? Couldn't you have attempted to take the fight to the ground first?

Ninja: I'll be honest, I never thought to take the fight to the ground. I was only thinking to fight the standup. I was fine, I even knocked the Russian down and his nose was bleeding a lot. But unfortunately, he caught me with a cross on my chin and I fell down unconscious.

Tatame: What was your impression of your move up to the heavyweight division?

Ninja: I felt fine. At this weight my hands have much more power, but my opponent's hands also have much more power. In my opinion, the difference between the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions is that power seems to be more important then stamina for the heavyweights. My stamina was real good, but I was the lightest athlete in the GP.

Tatame: You looked visibly shaken during the post-fight press conference. How will you and your team deal with this loss?

Ninja: It was my first loss by knockout. That never happened to me before, but I don't fight ugly or try to tie up the fight. I fight to win. The promoters of PRIDE love my fights. Rudimar (Fedrigo), Rafael (Cordeiro), and Cunha (Sergio) gave me a lot of support and made me raise my head, and that's what I'm doing. Nobody is invincible, I had a bad moment and I was knocked out.

Tatame: You didn't fight for a year after your loss to Randleman at Pride 24 (2002). How will be your career go from now on? Will you return to the light heavyweight division?

Ninja: I don't know how it'll be right now, but I just know that I'll continue to train hard and wait for another opportunity. I don't know if I'll return to the light heavyweight division. I'll wait to see what fight comes my way.
