POSTAL CONNECTIONS: MORE INFO ON COUTURE AND BELFORT TO JAPAN
By Tape Lord

Randy Couture and Vitor Belfort.
Hello my friends, as I reported last month,
K-1 is very interested in signing the winner (and possibly the loser too) of the
Randy Couture vs. Vitor Belfort title fight coming up in
UFC 49.
More information is now coming out from inside sources, and are telling me that
PRIDE may now get in a bidding war with K-1 for the services of both Couture and Belfort.
According to these sources,
K-1 would like to make a rematch between Couture and
Josh Barnett. They would also like to match Belfort against
'Lyoto' Machida.
According to these same sources,
PRIDE would like to match Couture against
Hidehiko Yoshida,
Quinton Jackson, and
Vanderlei Silva. They would also like to match Belfort against
Vanderlei Silva,
Quinton Jackson, and
Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic.

INSIDE SCOOP: LANDLESS POSSIBLY BANNED FROM UFC
By Scoop McTroll

Phil Baroni (far right) after striking referee Larry Landless.
Word on the street is that
UFC president
Dana White has demanded that
Larry Landless never ref another UFC fight again.
This is strictly
unofficial because the
NSAC are supposed to be the ones who nominate the referees for each show. Apparently Dana was furious with Landless for not stopping the
Tanner-Baroni fight when Tanner was on queer street. He couldnt believe that Landless let Tanner recover and then tried to stop the fight when Baroni was mounted.
"Dana said Landless was like a bizarro version of
Big John McCarthy, stopping the fight to give the wrong fighter the win" said a
UFC informant.
"Dana
personally did not care that Baroni punched Landless but he had to make out as though he was pissed with Phil. The
truth is that he blames the whole incident on Landless, not Baroni." - said the same source.
Apparently he let Landless work on the following show to make it look like there were
no hard feelings. But where has Larry been lately....?

THE JAKE R. REPORT: ZUFFA FINALLY SIGNS TV DEAL
By Jake R

In yet another exclusive for
Fightsport.com, this reporter has learned from reliable sources in a well known
Iowa fighting school that the
UFC has finally reached a television deal. In addition, for the first time, the details of the television show will be revealed.
As my long-term reliable sources have informed me, the television show will
not be the expected fight event similar to boxing's
Tuesday or
Friday Night Fights. Instead, the
UFC television show set to appear on the
Spike TV station will take on a reality based theme. Rather than focusing on actual UFC fights, the show will center around relatively unknown fighters attempting to make it into the UFC.
As it is now planned, the show will start with tryouts and will quickly be narrowed down to
six contestants from casting interviews. The selections will be made after fighters send in audition tapes to
Zuffa, similar to the
Tough Enough reality based wrestling show airing on
MTV. In addition, UFC legends
Ken Shamrock and
Pat Miletich will serve as coaches for the six remaining fighters, along with Toughman and UFC veteran
Phil Baroni.
Spike TV plans on airing the show once a week, with a heavy emphasis on the
training routines of the remaining fighters as Shamrock, Miletich, and Baroni coach them. As it is currently planned, the ending will result in at least one fighter getting an actual fight in the
UFC.
As always, stick to
Fightsport.com and
Jake R for exclusive reporting and inside UFC information the rest of the MMA websites are afraid to report.

K-1 CLAIM SAPP STILL MISSING

Bob Sapp
K-1 is continuing to say to the Japanese media that they have lost contact with
Bob Sapp since his loss to
Kazuyuki Fujita.
Sapp was scheduled to do a
pro-wrestling matchup this coming Thursday, but noone have been able to contact him.
Sources in the Japanese media are saying that this whole
scenario is most likely a K-1 angle to ease Sapp's work load without upsetting his many pro-wrestling fans. K-1 have already stated they wanted Sapp to do less pro-wrestling matches so he can concetrate more on his
K-1 rules and
MMA fights.

After being ordered to change his jacket to an

ATKINS INSIDER: ORTIZ VS. SHAMROCK PART 2

In yet another
Fightsport.com exclusive, my source, who goes by the name of
'In the know', has informed me that if
Ken Shamrock defeats
Kimo Leopoldo, he will get a rematch with
Tito Ortiz.
As you all know, the first match between Shamrock and Ortiz was the highest grossing fight under the
Zuffa regime. UFC president
Dana White feels that a rematch would have the same success in ticket and pay-per-view sales.
Also, many websites have been incorrectly reporting that
Matt Hughes vs. 'Charuto' Verissimo will be a title fight. This is not true as the title fight will be held at a later show. The winner of the Matt Hughes vs. Charuto Verissimo matchup will face the winner of the
Dennis Hallman vs. Frank Trigg to determine the welterweight title at a later show.
