Tito Ortiz Before reading any further, please read our disclaimer first. The following exclusive report was sent to us by our Zuffa informant called
'Coffee Guy':
Another reason the
UFC Japan was cancelled was because
Zuffa could not sign
Tito Ortiz to face
Vitor Belfort for a main event. Tito wanted no part of Vitor so soon after his upcoming fight against
Guy Mezger.
Once Tito pulled out, Zuffa actually tried to sign
Ken Shamrock vs. Vitor. That didn't work out either as Shamrock is still recovering from shoulder surgery.
Zuffa's official statement that
Frank Mir not being able to participate being the reason for UFC Japan's cancellation was just the final straw.
The truth is that their attempted venture into the
Japanese market had so many
blunders and
mishaps, that most people in the Zuffa offices already felt it was a doomed project from the start.

The hugely popular Felix Trinidad. In light of
Felix Trinidad's stunning comeback victory over highly regarded
Ricardo Mayorga, longterm and reliable sources inside the
Zuffa front office have informed me of
Zuffa's bungling of the Trinidad situation.
As
UFC fans remember,
Felix Trinidad once walked down the ramp with
Ricco Rodriguez. In addition,
Trinidad guest commentated at
UFC 41 with the
Spanish broadcast. Next,
Trinidad did the
Spanish UFC preshow for
UFC 42. As it was explained to me,
Trinidad did this because he was a huge
fan of the
UFC. Also,
Trinidad had asked for relatively
little pay for his commentating role, while providing valuable publicity in Spanish language magazines and newspapers while speaking on behalf of the
UFC. However, for unknown reasons,
Zuffa executives decided not to bring
Felix Trinidad back to the
UFC in any capacity,
After
Trinidad achieved
national recognition once again this weekend in his successful return to the ring, numerous
Zuffa employees are beginning to question and rethink the wisdom of
Zuffa's decision relating to
Trinidad.
As one
Zuffa source told me, "I have been with the company since the very beginning, and this is one of the worst mistakes they have made. Some of the others I can understand, but this one really didn't make sense. Trinidad was a huge fan of the UFC and wanted to support it in any way he could, but now that we have treated him this way, I doubt he will ever return. He could have really helped us out in the Spanish speaking market that we have yet to really break into, but now we'll have to forget about that."
