PRIDE IN LOS ANGELES
IBRAHIM UPDATE
Karam IbrahimThe following article is courtesy of
Boutreviewusa.com:
He stepped into the world of MMA with just two weeks of preparation.
Then, in the first fifty seconds of the bout, Karam "Gaber" Ibrahim displayed his incredible athletic ability. Pushing around Japan's "Missing Link" Kazuyuki Fujita like a little boy. Chasing him tackling and punching him to the corner.
Anyone who has seen Ibrahim competing in Greco-roman wrestling knows that this guy is a gem. The way he dominated in the Athens Olympics, flipping around an opponent like a big piece of wood, and celebrating with a summersault after the bout like a character in "The Matrix" we all realized that this man could be a force in the MMA world.
But Fujita saw one flaw in Ibrahim's offensive attack. His head-movements. When Ibrahim steps in for strikes, his chin tends to go up a little, so Fujita went for the counter shot. It was more like a swinging hook so the fist to wrist portion of Fujita's right hand nailed the left of Ibrahim's chin toward the side of his head, and this was just as Ibrahim came forward with a left low kick. As his chin was up. Then, instantly, Ibrahim was down.
Fujita chased him with two hammer shots to the face but by then, Ibrahim was completely gone. Laying on the canvass, his right leg trembling.
After the fight, Fujita said, "Today just happened to be my day but it doesn't mean I am better. He is an Olympic champion and I didn't even make it to the Olympic team. I still think he is a great athlete" expressing his highest respect for his opponent. On the other hand, the media at "K-1 Premium: Dynamite!!" didn't get to hear much from Ibrahim afterwards. Only rumors circulated. "I heard he doesn't want to do MMA anymore." "I think he feels embarrassed" "He is already thinking of revenge" etc.
7 days later... Karam Ibrahim was in The Big Apple starring in a promotion video campaigning for hosting the Olympic Games in New York City. With a little swell just below his left eye, he was smiling in front of the camera.
"I like this city because there is so much here, different cultures, people."
Yes I know you are very intelligent and I don't mean to be rude here but MMA fans out there don't really care if New York is the place you first tried sushi or not. They only want to know one thing. Are you going to continue competing in MMA?
We needed to hear his real voice so we waited around till this big campaign production was over and then finally I got to ask Ibrahim the question. A couple weeks after the Fujita fight, how do you feel now?
Ibrahim smiled and shook his head slowly, "Not good at all."
And of course, I had to ask this question. Why MMA now? You are the first wrestling gold medal winner out of Egypt in seventy six years and you are shooting for a second consecutive gold in Peking so why MMA now? Ibrahim replied immediately, "Because I like the game. I always fought in the street so I like the fight." His answer was an instinctive one. Ibrahim likes to fight but he also has this imperturbation to see MMA as "the game."
"UFC, K-1, PRIDE. I was always interested in it because my friend (Ali Abdelaziz) does ultimate fighting so I knew about it."
Apparently, this Olympic gold medal winner was well aware of MMA way before the world of MMA showed an interest in him because Ibrahim said that "only after the Olympics" the real offers from MMA started to knock on his door. Till then, after he won a world championship in 2002, the only concrete professional offer he received was the one from WWE but he never accepted because "I don't like it. It's not a real competition. It's not a fight."
Karam Ibrahim was born in Alexandria, Egypt. Not exactly a country known for being a powerhouse of amateur wrestling. So what is the secret behind the enormous success of Ibrahim besides his natural physical ability? He started wrestling at the age of seven under the guidance of his brohter/trainer Adel Ibrahim and in 1995 when he was 16 years old he was spotted by Yehia Kazarian, then the head coach of the Egyptian wrestling team, and he thus became a member of the national team. That's right. He got to experience the world earlier than other teenage wrestlers. He traveled all over the world entering various wrestling tournaments, initiated, and seasoned by fine coaches around the globe. Once he reached his 20's, he quickly achieved the status of world champion and went on to become an Olympic champion. He basically didn't need to prove anything else. So what is the motivation behind trying something completely new? Ibrahim's answer was simple. "I just want to show that I am a good fighter."
Then I wondered. Even with his incredible ability, was two weeks of preparation enough for competing in a completely new environment under a set of rules he had never experienced before? Did you, at least, get to see any Fujita fights so you could study the opponent? Ibrahim smiled and told me, "I only watched one Fujita fight but you know, I learn more from experience not from watching." Of course, you learn more from doing it than watching or reading about it but a man of your status usually considers something called "the risk factors." Ibrahim, however, continued, "Any fight is a good fight for me. You know why? Because I got a lot of experiences and even if I loose, then I learn more from it."
Apparently, this man is a pure athlete and a dedicated student of fight sports. He is not afraid of losing or perhaps a thought of loosing just doesn't even cross his mind. He was also telling me about how he "always fought with his shoes on" so I asked him about the danger of getting caught in an ankle hold or other leg submissions but Ibrahim replied, "I am not worried. It's OK". Maybe it's not that he doesn't think about loosing but he has this confidence or he may even actually senses his gifted ability. But he also seems to know what he needs to do in order for him to do well in MMA. He mentioned, "I want to improve my boxing technique and I want to gain more Jiu-jitsu technique." Ibrahim also revealed that he already asked K-1 for a rematch against Fujita in six months. That's right, he already began walking on the road to the revenge. He even mentioned a possible fight in March, of course, at the K-1 venue. He just seemed very anxious.
He is continuing his career in MMA, which means he may well become the first athlete to win a top crown in both professional MMA and the Olympics at the same time.
Ibrahim however denied this possibility, "I would like to stop fighting (in MMA) one year before (2008 Peking Games). I need to concentrate. There is a specific work out for Olympic wrestling. I can't think about another thing."
He is not thinking anything fancy. Karam Ibrahim just wants to prove his ability. And he knows that the first step has got to be settling the score with Fujita. That means, for Ibrahim fans, that the stage is now set for the great come back.

POSTAL CONNECTIONS: FEDOR/PRIDE UPDATE
Fedor EmelianenkoHello my friends, my postal connections in the
DSE/PRIDE organization and in
Russia are telling me that DSE/PRIDE representatives are supposedly in Russia right now, with the intention to attempt to re-sign
Fedor Emelianenko to a very big money contract. However, as of now, no deal has been reached.
In other news, Fedor's agent,
Miro Mijatovic, has already announced he plans to take legal action against DSE/PRIDE for what he feels are illegal practices.
More info to come in a few weeks.

MIJATOVIC TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST DSE/PRIDE
Croatian-Australian super agent
Miro Mijatovic, who is also the agent of
Fedor Emelianenko, plans to take legal action against
DSE/PRIDE. here is the statement he sent DSE/PRIDE:
"This year, just like in 2003 and 2004 in their actions in relation to Mirko Crocop, DSE and its President, Nobuyuki Sakakibara, have engaged in various illegal actions in attempts to interfere with my contractual relationships with Red Devil and Emelianenko Fedor.
DSE and its President Sakakibara have engaged in slander and defamation and have offered various financial inducements to Red Devil in order for them to break their contract with me. In November and December of 2003 and in January of 2004, DSE and its agent, Ken Imai, were successful in their attempts to break the relationship between myself and Mirko Crocop.
I have delivered all files in relation to DSE's actions against me both in relation to Mirko Crocop in 2003 and this year with Emelianenko Fedor to my Japanese and international lawyers with instructions to aggressively pursue all legal remedies against DSE, its President Sakakibara and all other parties involved in these actions. We will see what the legal system thinks of DSE's disgraceful business practices."

'KTFO' UPDATE

The following commentary was sent to us by the MMA insider known as
'Johnny Cinco':
"KTFO was at the UFC 51 event as I am sure you saw them plastered all over the UFC. It looks like they are signing fighters left and right and I found out why.
KTFO is signing guys and giving them a salary to wear their product. I have heard through sources that it is anywhere from USD$800 a month to as high as USD$3000 a month. There are also other contracts, but I haven't got details of those just yet.
Also Craig Fields, better known as 'HOLLA C' on the UG forum, was constantly whistling during the press conference, and it seemed as if UFC president Dana White wasn't too happy about that. In my opinion, it seems like KTFO is trying to buy their legitimacy in the sport of MMA.
KTFO do not design shorts yet, but when they do I expect an all out war with the other clothing companies.

BENNETT ADMITS GUILT, PUBLICLY APOLOGIZES TO BRAVO
Ryan Bennett (right)Disgraced MMA journalist
Ryan Bennett has issued the following apology for supposedly attempting to backstab

THE BENNETT FILES RE-VISITED
By Scoop McTroll
Ryan Bennett (left)We have had so many readers e-mail us positive feedback about
'The Bennett Files', that we have decided to re-open the files this Monday. But first we will re-post the original Bennett File:
Before reading any further, please read our disclaimer first.'Where's your dignity-
it's gone just like she is.
And you're groveling about the one that got away.
You'll get no sympathy from her just crying like a baby,
like the big fat stupid baby you've become.
Where's your dignity?' -Bob Dylan Welcome to the first installment of
'The Bennett Files', an investigative piece by
Scoop McTroll on the underhandedness of most people in the MMA industry. Infamous media figure-turned-backstabber
Ryan Bennett will be featured today.
As many of you know by now,
Ryan Bennett lost his job as the fight interviewer of the
UFC. He was replaced by
Eddie Bravo, whom bennett acted buddy-buddy with, and even asked Bravo to do some technique video clips for Bennett's website.
Well, Bennett then seemingly tried to get Bravo fired by underhanedly sending the following e-mail to UFC president
Dana White and co-owner
Lorenzo Fertitta. What Bennett didn't count on was that one of the tech guys at the
Zuffa offices then forwarded the e-mail to
Eddie Bravo himself! Notice how Bennett also tried to included the comments of
Bruce Buffer.
Observe the backstab firsthand:

Gentlemen;
I know and appreciate the professional image both of you bring
to the sport. With my daily radio show and features on the UFC
I do here at NBC, I like you try to do everything I can to promote the sport.
When I read a post on the underground, I take it a face value.
It's usually a keyboard warrior talking smack. When a Zuffa employee
though gets on there and talks about his drug use, this becomes
an issue as it affects the credibility of the sport that you and
I try to promote in a professional matter daily. I personally would
be fired by NBC for doing something like this. Bruce Buffer said
it best in a recent email to me.
Maybe this is why after an historical Championship main event our
UFC Octagon interviewer calls the new Champion Randy Couture...
"Chuck"... at the end of the interview.
Unbelievably stupid and not good show biz at all! Is this the image
we wish to promote for the UFC, it's fighters and our on-camera
team? I don't think so. What's next... mentioning it on the air during a PPV event.
Disgruntled UFC team member,
Bruce Buffer

JAPANESE FANS DO NOT AGREE WITH UFC PPV POLICY
Tim Sylvia featured on the UFC 51 pay-per-view card.Commentary by Josh Grossman
I read this post from a very educated Japanese fan on an internet forum. He makes a good point that
K-1 and
PRIDE show ALL of the fights in their entirety on their pay-per-view airings.
Only the free
TV airings leave out fights or show bits and pieces.
So why doesn't the
UFC broadcast the entire fight card on PPV? If you want to see prelim fights, you have to wait and buy an official DVD? Things should not be this way if NHB/MMA is to grow and cultivate a fanbase in America.

Final rating numbers are typically a bit lower, so look for the actual rating to be a 1.3 or 1.4.
This week's edition of WWE 'Raw' did a 3.7 cable rating, with the second hour of the two-hour show pulling a 3.8.
Typically, when broken down into quarter-hour ratings, the last segment of Raw is its highest rated segment. In other words, Raw did a 3.8 for its final hour, but likely was as high as 4.0 for the final 15-minute segment.
From there, viewership dropped dramatically in order for the 1.5 (or 1.4 to 1.3) rating to be achieved."

'THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER' EPISODE 4 REVIEW
A fan's humorous parody of the UFC reality show and what appears to be its percieved strategy of appealing to the upper class homosexual demographic.Review posted by the MMA insider known as
'Better Mouse Trap':
"This week's episode of "The Ultimate Fighter" was very boring. There was no friction/fights between the members in the house in this episode.
Diego Sanchez beat Alex Karelexis with a rear necked early in round one. Karelexis who has only been doing the sport for a little over a year, and looked he had no clue even about fundamental grappling.
The best part of the show came when Randy Couture verbally punked out Dana White. Dana was blabbing his mouth about how Randy's team had lost every challenge. Randy immediately shut him up by saying they had lost the first few challenges, but they weren't going to lose every one since every one had not happened yet.
Dana immediately realized he was wrong and went into a verbal fetal position, admitting Randy was right.
Dana also has about ten times as much camera time as the "host" Willa Ford. Dana had more camera time than Chuck and Randy combined, even giving background on the two fighters and mentioning how good they were at striking. As if a boxercise instructor would know... LOL
Other noticeable observations....
Zuffa has their UFC Logo everywhere. The cars, hats, cups, T-shirts, floor, wall, doors, clocks, etc...
Most of the logo's look cheesy, as if they hired some 3rd graders and let them loose with some crayons.
For Example, they spray painted the words UFC on a some logs in one episode and tonight they had huge UFC letters dyed on the pool table. I don't know how any motha fucker can concentrate on his game with that eyesore all in the mix.
Also, Randy has really done nothing outside of punking Dana. I thought Randy would carry the show, but he lays back in the cut too much and rarely speaks."

LESNAR/WWE LAWSUIT UPDATE
Brock LesnarBrock Lesnar's lawsuit against the
WWE that they are preventing him from working in his chosen field due to a no compete clause he signed last year, which does not expire until
June 30,
2010.
The no compete clause includes the
entire world, not just the
U.S., and prevents Lesnar from working for any competitor, including other
pro wrestling and/or
professional fighting organizations, such as
PRIDE,
K-1, or the
UFC.
Legal experts feel the no compete clause will not hold up in a
court of law, as it is
illegal to prevent someone from finding work if they are no longer willing to honor to their contract.
According to legal experts, what may end up happening is that some sort of
settlement will have to be reached between Lesnar, the WWE, and possibly his new employers.

DSE/PRIDE will supposedly try to sign Arlovski whenever his

NIGHT OF HUMILIATIONS FOR TEAM MILETICH
Tim Sylvia (left)The following article appeared in the
Quad City Times:
Sylvia lasts just 47 seconds in UFC return
By Sean Moeller
To the shock of a sold-out Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino crowd and especially Miletich Fighting Systems, heavyweight Tim Sylvia found himself frantically tapping out just 47 seconds into the first round of his mixed martial arts fight Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Russian leg-lock specialist Andrei Arlovski caught Sylvia off-guard with a right hand that didn't do any substantial damage, but it was enough to cause the former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion to stumble backward to the mat. Arlovski pounced on Sylvia, wrenching his right ankle dangerously close to snapping.
"I tried to go in for a quick submission. I was doing a really good job of (stuff)-blocking when I first went down, but he went right in for the leg and I felt my ankle pop a couple of times. I had a flashback of my arm breaking and I had to tap", Sylvia said Sunday from a Super Bowl party.
It was Sylvia's return to the UFC after having his right arm broken in a title fight against Frank Mir in June. The three titanium plates in his arm were tangible reminders that he didn't want to be sidelined for another eight months to let a bone mend.
"I'm a stand-up fighter. We live by the gun and die by the gun", Sylvia said. "I'm hoping the UFC will let me fight again in June. It looks like they will".
Miletich fighter Justin Eilers - one of the newcomers to the UFC - faced Paul Buentello, and like Sylvia, Eilers got into the wrong place. He rolled into a punch at 3:34 of the first round, a hit that turned the lights out on him.
"I'm doing all right, but it was a tough night", he said. "I just got caught. I felt fine in there. I didn't think the guy had any power. Then he hit me, and that was it. It sucked".
Eilers said he felt a little sluggish against Buentello, having not fought since August, and was going to begin boxing between mixed martial arts fights to stay active and keep his ring instincts sharp.

TAPE LORD'S MONDAY MORNING MAILBAG
By Tape Lord

UFC president Dana White, who was once a boxercize aerobics instructor, appearing to be staring at the asses of UFC fighters.Hello my friends! Welcome to Tape Lord's
'Monday Morning Mailbag'. Below are some of the more interesting e-mails I recieved as one of the editors of this newspage. Enjoy...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
DANA WHITE LOOKING AT FIGHTER'S ASSES AGAIN?Tape Lord, is it me or is Dana White STILL looking at the fighters' asses during weigh-ins, post-fight conferences, and basically any chance he gets?
- Phil
Bayside, NY
Tape Lord's reply: Phil, it does appear that this former boxercize aerobics instructor was indeed still looking in the direction of each fighter's groin and ass area. In the eyes of many fans, this seems to be the case as well, especially now that the UFC reality show seems to be very homo-erotic in nature.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
VITOR WAS ROBBED BY THE JUDGES!!How could anyone with two eyes not see that Vitor Belfort beat Tito Ortiz by a score of 29-28?? Vitor clearly won the first two rounds. Tito won the third round only because Vitor gassed from pushing the fight and punishing Tito for the first two rounds! How does winning the first two rounds, pushing the fight, and inflicting more damage lose you a fight?! Tito did nothing but play a defensive strategy and throw some ineffective strikes when he was on top. He never tried to finish the fight and he did absolutely no damage. This judges decision sucks!
-Andrew Bryant
Pheonix, Arizona
Tape Lord's reply: I agree with you Andy, and most of the real MMA media and fans agree with you to. Vitor won that fight by a score of 29-28, there is no other way about it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
VITOR-TITO JUDGES DECISION WAS FIXED?What are Belfort and team to make of Tito's ridiculous antics before they announced the decision? That made it look shady as hell, as if he knew he'd get the judges decision no matter what. And Zuffa doing nothing about it effectively endorsed it and showed BTT that Zuffa cannot be trusted when a poster boy is fighting. How else could BTT have viewed this crap?
-aLittleBird
Tape Lord's reply: it definitely looked shady, that's for sure. In my humble opinion, it would seem that the judges are terribly inept, or that there is some funny business going on. It seems like Brazilian fighters can never earn a fair and unbiased decision in the UFC.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
UFC HAS TREATED VITOR BADLYVitor was robbed in this fight. The fight with Randy Couture that Randy clearly won should have been stopped for an accidental head butt and declared no-contest like Fedor-Mino. I think Randy would own Vitor any time, still Vitor got screwed with that cut from a head butt in his third fight with Randy. The UFC has treated Vitor poorly and Dana's comment, in which he said he thought Tito won, is just more of the same.
-Martialartsfan
Tape Lord's reply: I agree. This is just my opinion, but it seems to me that the UFC has been only interested in bringing in Belfort so that their poster boys could try to ride out the fight, in the hopes of getting a biased hometown decision, thus getting a win over a name fighter and former UFC legend.
I like what I saw from Belfort in this fight though. He completely dominated Tito for the good part of the first two rounds, and had him knocked out for a few seconds even. How the ref didn't stop the fight at that point is beyond me. I think Vitor made a mistake of wanting to continue to punish Tito instead of finishing him off in the second round when he had the chance. He then gassed and Tito rode out the third round but inflicted no damage whatsoever. If Belfort improves his cardio, there is no reason why he can not beat Tito or anyone else in the light heavyweight divison, and he is still only 26 years old.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Belfort sign with PRIDE, and I think his career will excell over there, where the rules are more geared towards real fighting and not a hugfest.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
CHUCK LIDDELL DRUNK ON BROADCAST?Chuck Liddell made a complete ass out of himself on the UFC 51 broadcast. I swear he was drunk or something. I know that John "Pitmaster" Hackelman teaches him how to get outboxed and use that useless karate chop punch, but does he teach him to act like a fool too??
- Beau Taylor
Tulsa, OK
Tape Lord's reply: Beau, I thought Liddell represented himself well. He even thought Belfort won the fight, to which I agree with him.

"Vitor clearly won that fight by a score of 29-28, and always went for the finish, whereas Tito never really tried to finish the fight and fought most of the time in a defensive fashion." -Tape Lord, Fightsport.com
"Tape Lord is correct" -Better Mouse Trap, Fightsport.com
"Im not sure what fight the "judges" were watching but Stevie Wonder could see that Vitor won two rounds of the fight and Tito only won one round. If a fighter wins 2 rounds of a 3 round fight he has won it, simple. Ortiz keeps his title as The Great Pretender of MMA." --Scoop McTroll, Fightsport.com
"29-28 for Belfort" -Josh Gross, Sherdog.com
"29-28 for Belfort in a very close fight." -Michael DiSanto, InsideFighting and huge supporter of unoffical Tito fan club
"Vitor won the fight by both KO and 29-28 decision". -Sam John Harkins, freelance journalist
"Belfort 29-28. Great fight, close fight. I gave Vitor Belfort the nod 29-28. I agree that the fight came down to how you scored the first round. Vitor was the agressor and he almost took out Tito in that first round. To Ortiz’s credit he weathered the storm, but Vitor was the more aggressive fighter and control more of that first round than Tito did, thus I give it a 29-28 Belfort win." -Ken Pishna, MMA Weakly
"I scored it 29-28 Vitor Belfort. I don’t have a major problem with how the official judges scored it. It was that close and watching the replay on tv compared to live in Vegas, it looked even closer than I first thought.
I think we all agree Tito won Round 3 and Vitor Round 2. So it comes down to Round 1. Depends how you judge Round 1. The fight was eerely similar to the Liddell 2nd round KO over Ortiz at the beginning as Vitor had a monster barrage that broke the nose of Tito Ortiz. Ortiz said “I was out for a second after an elbow.... Tito then said later that his nose was broke in the first round.
Ortiz played the position game very well in the first round, but the most effective scoring came from Belfort. My notes said “In a very close round I score it 10-9 because of the damage Tito sustained from the strikes. Tito finished the round strong for a minute and a half, but the first 3 minutes of the round were Vitor, thus 10-9." -Ryan Bennett, disgraced journalist from MMA Weakly

SHAMROCK VERBALLY HUMILIATES TITO
Ken ShamrockBelow is a transcript of the exchange between
Ken Shamrock and
Tito Ortiz at the
UFC 51 event on Saturday (transcript by
Ted Johnson):
Tito: Ken Shamrock was talking some smack and I know that old man is in the house. Shamrock, step up! I'll make you remind myself that I am Rick James and you are my bitch!!!
Shamrock runs into the Octagon at this point. A few minutes after, he is taken out of the Octagon and is standing right outside it, and an interviewer asks for his comments: Shamrock: All I hear him is talking, that's all I've heard him do so far, is run his mouth about how he's gonna' do this and how he's gonna' do that. All I hear is you talking! You want to fight me? I'm standing right here! I accept your challenge, what about you, do you accept my challenge? Say yes! I hear your mouth running but I don't hear yes! I don't hear a yes you punk! That's right, that's what I thought, you're a little punk 'cause you won't accept the fight!
I just challenged you! Say yes, right now! Better yet let you get your energy back so I can bust your nose again! Hey, all I got to say to Tito is don't back out of this one, step up! All I hear you talkin', I hear you talkin', but when it's time, I'm already signed, I'm already signed to fight! You ain't signed yet, but I hear you talking! Put the pen in your hand and sign the line punk! (Tito grabs a pen and mimmics signing a contract, then drops it) Oh hey, that was impressive but you're supposed to keep it in your hand and sign on the dotted line!
I know you didn't have much of an education but that's what you do with a pen, you don't throw it away! Sign the paper! (Tito is handed another pen) Are you gonna' throw that one too? You're supposed to write with it! Yeah, do I hear it? Hey by the time we get back on the website and you're talkin' all that trash I hope that you've signed already, cause all I hear you do is talkin', and that's the best thing you do!

CARLSON ATTACKS BTT AT UFC 51
Carlson GracieThe following was reported by a fan at ringside:
"I can't believe no one has mentioned the fact that Carlson Gracie Sr was on the floor level and basically attacked (I'm using the word loosely) BTT after Vitor lost. Carlson was behind the barricade and was screaming and grabbing and smacking at them as they pasted. I couldn't hear what was said although i'm sure it was in Portuguese, and possibly along the lines of them leaving his team.
The crazy part was this older thin usher guy kind of grabbed Carlson and pushed him back almost knocking him over. Carlson then approached the guy and shook his hand and hugged him in an apologetic (sp?) manner. It was all funny to watch."

CAGE WARRIORS UK ATTACKS DANA WHITE
Once a Boxercise instructor, Dana White is now UFC president. The president of the UK-based
'Cage Warriors' promotion,
Dougie Truman, made the following statement regarding the decision of
Zuffa to pursue legal action against what they percieve as a
'breach of trademark':
"I was today shocked and stunned when I received a security sealed envelope by US express mail, from a firm of solicitors in America representing Zuffa/ UFC. They are threatening me with court action over their "alleged" breach of trade mark issues, I have until 15th of February to comply or face legal proceedings.
To some of you this will mean absolutely nothing, but to those of us who have worked hard to build MMA in the UK & to push the boundaries of awareness to the masses, not just of our own personal organisations and events but to each others and the general overview of MMA Globally, then this is a big kick in the teeth.
Cagewarriors and our staff/supporters have relentlessly pushed and promoted for greater awareness of this sport, we even invited Sean O'Hara from Setanta Sports to our Newcastle event in 2003 at our own expense and talked him into showing the UFC pay per view, despite their initial reluctance. We also produced flyers and distributed them throughout the UK to help promote the UFC PPV event that was shown on Setanta Sports. We did this in order to help the UFC's presence here in the UK. Now we find the UFC doing this to us when all we have ever wanted to do is help promote the UFC and MMA in our country.
Dana White you are seriously out of touch as to what we are trying to achieve here in the UK, unlike in American we here in the UK work "together" and we "support" each other and have "solidarity" where as you obviously do not and prefer to push your weight around and generally bully the little guy.
I once stupidly thought that if we all worked as hard here in the UK as you guys have in the USA, you would recognise the growth of the UK scene and support it as we have yours. I also thought that as fellow promoters of the same sport, we could communicate personally and build a bigger global presence for the sport and share ideas that would eventually be of mutual benefit. However these hopes were dashed when I received an e-mail from a member of staff at your office a little over a year ago requesting that we remove all UFC e-mail addresses and to stop e-mailing you. This is why I am now issuing my response publicly, as you have shown me little regard or respect by sending me a solicitors letter, when you could have resolved this matter with a simple polite e-mail or letter.
So here I go. Dana White with the greatest of respect stop whining like a biatch and grow a pair of balls like your President and do it, don't mince about like a fairy with your pathetic attempts to threaten me, get your big fat cheque book out and pay a decent firm of solicitors and go for it. See you in court big boy!
Regards Dougie"

YVES EDWARDS EXPOSES UFC REALITY SHOW
Yves EdwardsYves Edwards made the following comments regarding
The Ultimate Fighter' reality show and its special effects gimmicks:
"I just watched the replay of TUF, and I don't know if anyone has pointed this out already or if anyone even noticed it, but on the Southworth/Kincaid fight they used sound effects for the strikes that landed. I thought I was imagining things at the end of the first round when I noticed it, but sure enough when Bobby got the knock out there it was sound effects to go along with the finishing combo. The effects were only during the actual fight not during the replay. This infusion of fake sounds can only be "bad for the sport" when some colon gnome sees it and says "that stuff is fake. See they use sound effects." Oh well cest le vive."

THE JAKE R. REPORT: THE REASON 'TUF REJECT' GIDEON RAY FOUGHT IN UFC 51
In another Fightsport exclusive, this cyber reporter can reveal why Gideon Ray participated in UFC 51 this weekend. Sources in Vegas have informed me that the only reason Gideon Ray was brought in as a replacement was because he had already had all of his medicals for the state of Nevada done.
In fact, it turns out that Gideon Ray had these tests done because he tried out for the TUF tv show, but was rejected by Zuffa. Zuffa contacted several other fighters, but none of them had all of the medical tests done as Gideon Ray did.
Ray was rejected from TUF, but had gotten the full array of medical testing done in the process. None of the others contacted by the UFC for the fight had them all done. So, a TUF reject got a UFC fight simply because he had done all of the necessary medical tests. As I was told by my sources in Vegas, this was the one and only reason Gideon Ray fought in the UFC.

MMA MEDIA: 'BELFORT WAS ROBBED!!'
Vitor Belfort (top) dominating Tito Ortiz (bottom).MMA journalist
Ricardo Alonso was live ringside at
UFC 51 and gave the following first-hand account of the
Vitor Belfort vs. Tito Ortiz matchup:
"Where to start... Vitor Belfort was robbed!! This now makes the second time Vitor has been robbed by the judges in the "new" UFC.
The UFC is supposed to go by who wins the most rounds. So let me break down who won which round...
ROUND 1: It is clear to see that Vitor won round one very convincingly, controlling the fight and stunning Tito for at least 3 1/2 minutes of the first round. Tito only spent 90 seconds on top and did minimal damage.
ROUND 2: It's is very clear again to see that Vitor won round two very convincingly. Vitor came close to finishing this fight in round teo, and was pummeling Tito, with Tito doing nothing but covering up like a bitch!
ROUND 3: This round went to Tito, only because Vitor was already gassed from beating the living hell out of Tito and dominating him for the first two rounds.
So, when we look at the facts, Vitor wins this fight by two rounds to one! Vitor wins this fight 29-28 on the scorecards of anyone who has teo eyes and knows NHB/MMA. Vitor deserved to win this decision."
