ADCC NOTIFICATION REGARDING BRAZIL TRIALS

The
ADCC committee issued the following statement regarding the supposed
ADCC Brazil Trials that were held two weeks ago:
The ADCC committee wants to notify all Brazilian competitors that the so-called “Brazilian Confederation of Submission ADCC” is not an official branch of the ADCC World Submission Wrestling Championships nor it has ANY connections with ADCC World Submission Wrestling Championships.
The federation was formed without our approval and does not have the sanctioning of our event, nor can hold trials or qualify ANY fighters to our tournament.
In the past Mr. Paulo Zorello was the Brazilian organizer for the 2003 ADCC World Submission Wrestling Championships and conducted the trials for the 2005, however, the relationship between ADCC and Mr. Zorello has ended. Furthermore, Mr. Rogerio Gravazza and Wagner Gomes hold no official ties to ADCC. The trials held in Rio de Janeiro were not sanctioned by our committee and were done without our permission; therefore the trials recently held in Rio de Janeiro hold no official value as far as ADCC Committee is concerned.

ASSUERIO SILVA SPEAKS
Assuerio SilvaAssuerio Silva was recently interviewed by Brazilian magazine
'Tatame'. Here's what Assuerio had to say (interview by
Gleidson Venga):
Tatame: You just signed a deal with the UFC. Tell us a little about this.
Assuerio: I was expecting to fight in the UFC eight months ago, but I was signed to do another event and it didn't work out. I received another UFC proposal, so we started talking again and worked out a deal, and I'm going to fight there. I'm very happy with it because the UFC is one of the biggest events in the world, and it is a fighter's dream to be there. I will fight in UFC 54, and I have a 3-fight deal.
Tatame: Your opponent will be Tim Sylvia. What are your expectations about this fight?
Assuerio: I confess that I've never seen him fight, but every fight is a fight and I don't choose my adversaries. I want to face the ones who are on top. Now that I'm going to fight in the UFC, I will try to bring the heavyweight belt to Brazil. I still didn't see the way he fights, never saw his fights, but a fight is a fight. So we can only say that we will fight, get the feel of the fight, and see the way we feel ourselves. If I can trade, I will trade. If I can't, I will go to the ground. I'm just going to fight.
Tatame: He is a former heavyweight champion and is very experienced.
Assuerio: Exactly. I’m going to train with Vitor Belfort, because he is already a UFC fighter and has experience with the rules. For me, I lack adaptation with the rules, but I know how to fight. I only want to adapt myself with their rules because they are different. You can't kick the guy when he has four points on the ground, and the fight is in an octagon. It's been a long time since I fought in an octagon. But everything is fine, the only thing that's left is the fight itself.
Tatame: And what do you think about the UFC champion Andrei Arlovski?
Assuerio: I've never seen him fight. I will now start to watch the fights of the guys who fight there. I wasn't watching these fights before.
Tatame: One of your UFC plans is to capture the title, correct?
Assuerio: My plan in the UFC is to do good fights, knock some people out, and in the third fight I'm sure that I will fight for the belt. So I will catch the belt, re-new my deal, and make history in the UFC.
Tatame: And Brazilians have a tradition in the event.
Assuerio: It is true, and I'm going to win. I'm very well trained and ready to destroy. I was expecting the opportunity and it came, so I will go for the belt.
Tatame: An how is your training going?
Assuerio: I'm in Sao Paulo right now. I spent 25 days in Sao Paulo, and 10 days in Curitiba. I'm doing boxing in the Olympic Center in Sao Paulo. There are some people who do boxing with me there. I got a little better with my hands, and I'm training the kicking with Kyokushin professor Ademir da Costa. I'm sharpening well my kicks and hands, and I'm training well. There are some good people to train with. I'm also training wrestling in the Ibirapuera gymnasium, and the free style part I'm doing with Leozinho Vieira and his guys. I'm going to Belo Horizonte to do some training with Vitor Belfort. The training is very tough. I'm training a lot of conditioning too. You have to turn on the engine to high speed, because when you call for the stamina, it has to come.

COFFEE GUY EXCLUSIVE: 'RAMPAGE' VS. LIDDELL POSSIBILITY
By Coffee Guy
Quinton "Rampage" JacksonBefore reading any further, please read our disclaimer first. The following exclusive report was sent to us by our Zuffa informant called
'Coffee Guy':
"If
DSE/PRIDE chooses not to sign
Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson to a new contract,
Zuffa will most likely make an attempt to sign Jackson, with the intention of giving him a title fight against
Chuck Liddell.
Liddell must get past
Jeremy Horn first, but
Dana White is said to feel very confident Liddell will beat Horn. Dana would then like to see Liddell win a rematch against Quinton Jackson.
If Liddell beats Jackson, look for Liddell to face
Randy Couture for a third time, some time late next year, when Couture will be close to
42 years old.

'SHOGUN' SPEAKS
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (top) vs. Rogerioo "Minotoro" NogueiraMauricio 'Shogun' Rua was recently interviewed by Brazilian magazine
'Tatame'. Here's what Shogun had to say (interview by
Ricardo Alonso):
Tatame: What is your evaluation of your fight against Rogerio "Minotoro" Nogueira?
Shogun: It was a very good fight. Minotoro fought very well on his feet, his boxing has improved very much. I thought he'd try to take me to the ground, so I couldn't believe it when he wanted to trade strikes with me. He impressed me.
Tatame: Did you have to abandon your strategy when Minotoro was trading strikes with you?
Shogun: Whenever I'm fighting on the ropes, I look to take the fight to the ground and strike from the top position. I spent more time on top during the fight and I got a knockdown on each side. Without a doubt, the knockdowns I scored on him made the difference because they count as points. To tell you the truth, I never do much strategy. I just do what comes to my head during a fight. Up to now, that was the hardest fight of my life, but from here on in it's going to continue to be a battle.
Tatame: Who do you want to face in the GP finals?
Shogun: They're going to match me up against either Ricardo Arona or Alistair Overeem. Either one of those two will be difficult, but the objective is to get to the final against Vanderlei.
Tatame: What did Vanderlei say to you at the end of your fight?
Shogun: He congratulated me and told me that I did a great fight. Not just him, but the Japanese also praised me a lot after the fight, and said it was the best fight of the event. I had people telling me it looked like a matchup between Brazil and Argentina (laughs).
Tatame: Are you already thinking about the GP finals?
Shogun: I don't want to think about anything right now. I will rest for one week, eating a lot, and I don't want to think about training during that period. I don't want to know nothing about nothing (laughs).

'PELE' SPEAKS
Jose "Pele" Landi-JonsJose 'Pele' Landy-Jons was recently interviewed by Brazilian journalist
Gleidson Venga. Here's what Pele had to say:
Interviewer: Tell us a little bit about your fight against Fabricio Monteiro in Jungle Fight 4.
Pele: Well, my fight with Fabricio was, for me, like remembering my past. I had a lot of diversity in my movements... I thought and my body answered. It was a moment of happiness for me. Fabricio didn't surprise me at all, I was aware of his talent all the time.
Interviewer: At the end of the match we could see you saying to Fabricio that he has a lot of talent and that he will shine in MMA. Tell me about your plans now.
Pele: That's it. One of my biggest wishes now is that Fabricio can resume his career undefeated, as he was doing. Well, I signed to fight in Gladiator FC, which will be in Japan. I have already received 25% of the purse. The event was about to happen this month, but was delayed because of the PRIDE GP. I don't know who my opponent will be, but I know it will be a Japanese fighter.
Interviewer: Is it true that you thought about retiring from fighting after your recent loss to Renato "Babalu" Sobral in Jungle Fight 3?
Pele: That's right. I was a bit discouraged because of the consecutive losses. Four weeks before my latest fight, a friend of mine, Vidal, came to me and told me that he was talking with Anderson Silva, and both of them were thinking that I would never stop fighting at this point in time. I was enthused to come back to the ring, and I got the taste of victory again in this last Jungle Fight show.
Interviewer: Do you think you made the wrong decision at that time, gaining weight and changing your weight division? What did you think about Jungle Fight?
Pele: Yes I do, because my body structure can't take that much weight. I think that under 83 kg (183 pounds) is my weight division. It was a wonderful event. The Jungle Fight family is aware that everybody there gave his body and soul to help make the event one of the best, if not the best, show in the world. More than that, the showman is back, and I am even more willing to shine now.
Interviewer: Tell me about Pele Team.
Pele: I visited Pele Team recently and trained boxing with my father. I checked on the technical progress of my students, and also to help motivate the new talent. In the evening, around 9:30, I give classes in the Master Gym academy in the Batel quarter, where I train the whole class. My training starts at 10:00 in the morning and finisheds at 11:30 at night. My day is very tough, and because of that I take a one-hour nap after lunch.
Interviewer: Is there any students you have that will soon emerge on the national scene?
Pele: There is one who has already emerged; he is a middleweight called Sandrao, and he is a national threat. He is a karate black belt, has trained with me for five years, and around two weeks ago I gave him his black belt. He is my third black belt, and I'm very satisfied as a master.

POSTAL CONNECTIONS: JAPANESE MMA MEDIA GIVEN GREEN LIGHT TO ATTACK FEDOR
By Tape Lord
Fedor EmelianenkoHello my friends, my postal connections in
Japan are telling me that many of the Japanese MMA media outlets with connections to
DSE/PRIDE have recently been trying to make
Fedor Emelianenko look bad in the press.
The most recent article was about Fedor supposedly having an affair with a Japanese prostitute. Many Japanese insiders feel this media assault on Fedor's character may have something to do with some of the
difficulties DSE/PRIDE have had with Fedor's management over the last few years.

ARONA RECIEVES YELLOW CARD
Ricardo AronaAfter viewing the fight again,
DSE/PRIDE issued a yellow card to
Ricardo Arona after his victory over
Kazushi Sakuraba, in which they claim he eye gouged Sakuraba during the fight.
Whether the eye gouge was
intentional or not, DSE/PRIDE issued the penalty to Arona because the event will air world wide, and according to them, they do not want to send the wrong impression that their event allows eye gouging.

'RAMPAGE' MAY SOON BE OUT OF PRIDE

DSE/PRIDE may soon be cutting
Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson from its roster.
The inside word amongst Japanese insiders is that DSE/PRIDE feels Jackson doesn't have any serious marketing value with the Japanese fans, and that any marketing potential he once had has now disappeared since his brutal losses to
Vanderlei Silva and
Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua.
